Fukuoka Travel Guide: Fukuoka Castle Cherry Blossom Festival & Ohori Park
In early April 2018, I visited Fukuoka. (福岡) is an ancient trading city on the northern coast of the island of Kyushu known both for its warm welcoming atmosphere and its warm climate. and one of Japan's ten most populated cities.
Access from Osaka to Fukuoka
From Osaka, There are three ways to travel from Osaka to Fukuoka: by the shinkansen bullet train, by air, and by bus.
I choose ride airplane because I find the cheap ticket in traveloka. There are regular direct flights between Kansai International Airport and Fukuoka Airport that take 70 minutes. I recommended you choose low cost airlines such as: Peach and Jetstar from Kansai International Airport that can cost between 3,490 yen and 8,490 yen.
The Best Time to Visit Fukuoka
Fukuoka Spring (April and May)
Fukuoka Summer (June, July, August and September)
Fukuoka Autumn (October and November)
The best time to see the cherry blossoms in Fukuoka is late March or early April and the great places to see cherry blossoms in Fukuoka and hanami is in Fukuoka Castle and Maizuru Park.
I find Yayoi Kusuma Pumpkin!
When first time I come to Fukuoka Castle I'm so suprised because I can not find the castle.. huh... what happened? And after that, I search in internet and find this story:
Fukuoka Castle used to be one of the largest castles in Kyushu, but was torn down after the Meiji Restoration because it was viewed as a symbol of an undesirable feudal past. Parts of the castle walls and some parts of the castle remain, and the ruins offer a scenic viewpoint over the city. It is particularly worth a visit during March and April when the cherry blossoms are blooming.
The ruins mainly consist of the stone walls, what remains of the moat, and some old watchtowers. There really isn't much of the castle left, leaving your imagination to recreate what the castle might have looked like. The ruins are spread out over an area next to Ohori Park.
I'm feel so stupid because I didn't check before come here but I never regret come here because Fukuoka Castle and Maizuru Park is so beautiful, especially in cherry blossom season.

A few steps south of the museum visitors will come across the Ohori Park Japanese Garden which, in contrast to the rest of the park, charges a small entrance fee ( 240 yen )
